Founded in Milan in 1946, Stilnovo became a key player in the development of postwar Italian modernism. Known for its collaborations with cutting-edge designers and architects, the company helped redefine lighting as both functional object and visual statement. With its innovative use of industrial materials and a sharp eye for proportion, Stilnovo merged utility and elegance into a design language that remains iconic to this day.

This ceiling lamp from the 1950s is a striking example of Stilnovo’s architectural clarity. A cylindrical black metal frame, perforated with vertical slits, surrounds a softly glowing opaline glass diffuser. The interplay of light and shadow through the cutouts adds a subtle rhythm and warmth to the otherwise minimal design. Both practical and sculptural, the lamp embodies the forward-looking spirit of Italian mid-century lighting — understated, graphic, and refined.
