Kazuo Motozawa (1945-…) was born in Saitama, Japan. He graduated from the Musashino Junior College Craft and Industrial Design Department in 1968. After his studies he designed several lamps for Yamagiwa. For the Saturn collection he received the IF Design award in 1971. From 1977 until 1985 he was the director of LD Yamagiwa Laboratory.

In the mid seventies the popularity of the Saturn collection grew and production for the European market was licensed to Staff Leuchten in Germany. This German manufacturer was one of the leading lightning design companies, collaborating with Stilnovo, Raak, Lyfa…

In 1987 Motozawa established his own company: HALO Design Laboratory, Inc. Kazuo Motozawa exhibited frequently and achieved many awards.
